In receiving this award by New England Home Magazine, Debra Folz was asked to design a custom rug to be manufactured by Landri & Arcari of Boston and auctioned off to benefit Barakat, a charity focused on women's education in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Based on the concept of a flock of birds this geometric composition breaks the traditional form of a floor carpet by freeing the edge and allowing elements to pass through. Each shape is designed to reflect light in three different ways by utilizing varying fiber content.
